How do penguins swim underwater?

Swimming is really important to penguins because it allows them to hunt for fish. Penguins don’t breathe underwater when they’re swimming – they actually hold their breath. Our penguins at London Zoo, which are Humboldt penguins, can hold their breath for around seven minutes. They do this while diving to depths of about 150 metres.
