UN report urges climate action

A new report by the United Nations (UN) says that urgent action is needed to avoid environmental disaster. The UN is an organisation of 193 countries that work together on the challenges that face the world. The report says that an important global goal for slowing climate change is likely to be missed unless more urgent action is taken. Many countries have already agreed to try to stop average global temperatures from rising by more than 1.5°C. However, the UN report points out that the world has already warmed by 1.1°C and is likely to pass 1.5°C some time in the 2030s. It’s not all bad news, though.
