Nina Wadia brings Joy to life

The actor talks about her passion for comedy.

Acting is joyfulness, says Nina Wadia, who plays Joy in the current CBBC comedy show Danny and Mick. It has been the most fun she has had in her career, she tells The Week Junior. “It allows me to be a kid again.” The show uses slapstick comedy, a type of acting that involves exaggerated physical movement and pranks. Joy is the head of the leisure centre where Danny and Mick work. She’s “show-offy, mean and bossy,” says Wadia – the character that the audience loves to hate. Does she mind? “It’s the greatest compliment when someone tells me they throw something at the TV when I come on,” she says, because it means she has done a good job.
