If you take time to stop and think about it, sports are strange. People run around, trying to accomplish odd physical tasks that often serve no real purpose – usually while being cheered on by thousands of spectators. Sports can even seem odd to sports fans; many people who love cricket, for example, can’t see the point of American football. The world is filled with weird and wonderful sports – and history abounds with them. Why did sports start in the first place?
