Dozens of people died, hundreds of homes were destroyed, and more than 100,000 people lost electricity last week when tornadoes, dust storms, and wildfires swept the U.S. In response to the devastation, the nonprofit organization Global Empowerment Mission (globalempowermentmission.org) has deployed volunteers to distribute critical aid supplies to victims in Missouri, where 19 tornadoes were recorded across 25 counties. In southern Missouri, GEM is handing out “necessity kits” with food and other essentials, as well as cash cards for emergency expenses. GEM has done relief missions in all 50 states—but it also works abroad. Currently it is working in Argentina to provide aid to victims of record-breaking, catastrophic flooding in Bahia Blanca. Since its founding in 2010, GEM has sent out nearly 400 relief missions to 69 countries.
