1 Start by stacking two inward-facing pistons. Next, smash the bottom piston so only the top piston hovers in the air. Place three slime blocks horizontally across the piston, an inward-facing sticky piston, then an outward-facing piston behind that. Finally, add another slime block in front of the last piston. 2 That’s the main bulk of the work out of the way. So let’s now make it look a little more tractor-like. Build two upside down ‘L’ shapes on the left and right sides of the first slime block. Then on the base of the ‘L’ shapes, add black wool for the wheels. Having your own farm is great and all, but what happens when you need to keep you and your animals fed? That’s where this auto farm comes in. Built by isaacladboy, this build incorporates a multi-level auto farm, which contains wheat, carrots and potatoes – enough to keep your animals fed for weeks. This all works because there is a water source at the top of each section that can be turned on and off. Your YouTube channel features so many different builds, so what attracted you to the idea of building a zoo? I had never built a zoo in Minecraft before, and it just so happened that I had visited my nearest zoo a week or so before the series started, which filled me with inspiration for it. 1 LAY A PLATFORM Once you’ve picked your waterside fishing spot, lay down a 3x4 platform of wooden blocks alongside the shore – we went for birch planks to match the sand. 2 CREATE A ROOF Who wants to get wet in the rain? Giant mob and animal statues are a great way to fill an empty world. Build a creeper, ghast, or in this case cow, and you’ve instantly got a gorgeous focal point. But what if you want to take your statue building to the next level? That’s where we come in. In this guide we’ll show you how to build a giant cow (or mooshroom if you read on) the right way, complete with the correct dimensions so you don’t end up with a tiny body and giant head. 1 Kickstart this add-on by heading inside the main body area of the cow. Next, find the topside of the udders and work out where the pink terracotta blocks are – there should be four in total. Mine behind each of them, and place sticky pistons facing into the terracotta. This will allow our water source to be turned on and off at the flick of a lever. 2 Now for the redstone. The idea here is to link up all the sticky pistons to one track of redstone dust. Start from the right side and trail redstone dust behind. Then curve it along the south side before running it along the left side, and for the two blocks slightly to the right. Add in the redstone repeaters, as shown,…

BEHOLD THE MOOSHROOM!

Here’s a neat trick for you: With a few alterations, your cow can be easily transformed into a mooshroom. How do we go about this? Strap in and we’ll explain. Build the cow as you normally would, only substitute the brown wool for red wool – you can either build a new cow from scratch and re-follow the previous steps, or replace the brown wool on your already-built cow. Stick with the same patterns, mouth and general design, but switch the eyes out for two sets of 2-by-2 black wool. Then when it’s finished, head on top and add in the mushrooms. Easy or what?!…

1 LAY THE RINK Find yourself a nice, flat section of snowy ground, and lay out your rink by inlaying blocks of ice. You can make this as large or small as you like, and in any shape. 2 PLACE FENCING Ice is slippy, so place some fencing around the perimeter of your rink to stop people flying off. You can leave gaps in this at the corners, so people can easily get in. 3 ADD LIGHTING Skating at twilight is lovely and atmospheric, but you’ll need some lighting to do this. Most light sources actually melt ice, so ensure you place your torches a few blocks up off the ground! 4 INTRODUCE COMPANY Why not add in some snow golems for some company? You can bring these to life…

DOWN ON THE FARM

EU subsidies, grain silos, combine harvesters – in real life, a farmer’s existence is beset with bureaucracy, and enabled by technology. In Minecraft, praise be to John Barleycorn himself; it’s an entirely different lifestyle, at least a century behind the machinery-obsessed real world. That said, in the real world you can’t fly, and you can’t carry solid stone blocks – so there’s always an upside! Down on our Minecraft farm, we work all day to keep things running – and we do it in the traditional style, feeding our animals, planting our crops, building our shelters and, er, running sophisticated texture packs – well, we mostly do it the traditional way. Put in the hours and you can get a whole lot done, even in just one 12-hour shift. Behold…

Don’t get us wrong, we love gambolling through the fields in Minecraft, stroking the ocelots and enjoying the invigorating creativity of it all as much as the next miner. Sometimes, though, we’re in the mood for a good scare, and where better to go for that than one of the hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of spooky maps that exist out there on the forums? We did a full Survival Diary for the amazing Alien: A Miner’s Isolation map back in issue 22, but we couldn’t possibly compile this list of creepy maps without mentioning it again. The tale of escaping a hideous fanged xenomorph (actually a skeleton horse!) on board a mob-infested spaceship is a beautiful tribute to the bestselling 2014 console game Alien: Isolation. The storyline is somewhat different to the original game, though, so don’t think for a minute that you know what’s coming – and believe us, the surprise ending will have you running away in terror. 1 BUILD A STRUCTURE Use some wooden blocks to build a small structure. You don’t need to worry about a door – an open front will do – but using some coloured wool blocks as a floor will give your canine chum some comfort. 2 ADD A FENCE Sure, you could tie your wolf up, but putting a fence around the kennel means you won’t need to. Why not leave a few blocks around the building itself, so he’s got some space to run around? 3 LAY A DRINKING BOWL Cooping up an animal without a water bowl is downright inhumane, so remove one grass block and fill the space in using a water bucket. Do you wanna build a treehouse? Come on let’s go and build! Making a treehouse is a good way to spend time in Minecraft. But what if you want to not just build a treehouse, but a giant tree with several houses dangling off its branches? In this guide we’ll be showing you how to go about building a giant tree, step by step. The trick is to not build it straight, otherwise you end up with a massive, wooden rocket. Adding curves helps, as does getting the roots and branches right. CONSTRUCT A TREE BEDROOM

1 Begin by heading down the base of the tree and find one of the four-long walls. Smash a two-high space, then with cobblestone steps, half slabs and blocks, create the doorframe. Start by putting the steps in place, then add in the half slabs above the opening, before placing the solid blocks in order to finish up this section. 2 Next up we need a bed, because what’s the point in making a bedroom if there isn’t anywhere to sleep? For this, equip some spruce half slabs and spruce steps. Oh, and beds, obviously. Lay down two beds next to one another along the back wall, then drop half slabs around them. Run spruce two blocks out from the top, then fill in the sides, and that’s it. 3…

BUILD A TREEHOUSE KINGDOM

If building your own tree from scratch isn’t your thing, why not build a treehouse kingdom in an existing forest? The idea behind this build is to first find a massive jungle biome, then grab as much wood as you can possibly carry. If you have got an open area, build in there; if not, just build on top of the trees. The houses are created via a similar circle foundation, just like in our build. The only difference being they’ve been turned into homes rather than a giant tree. You could even steal the idea of connecting all the houses with fencing to create interlinking platforms.…
