The daily dog walk is always more fun if you can do it with friends – of both the two-legged and fourlegged variety. Make an afternoon of it by packing a picnic and heading out to somewhere special where the dogs can run off the lead, enabling you to walk and talk.
Once the dogs have thoroughly worn themselves out (okay, we know this is wishful thinking), lay down a blanket and tuck into brilliantly portable frittata with a summer salad. Share around some stuffed figs, then finish with muffins – if you haven't already polished them off on the walk – and wash it all down with fiery gingerade with a turmeric twist.
You don't have to worry about hungry hounds scoffing your lunch, either, as there are homemade dog biscuits…
