Arms and the child

THE MYSTERY Jenny Brown and Margaret Green are lifelong friends. They went to the same school and graduated from teacher-training college together. Both were appointed teachers at their local primary in the same term. The two teachers devised a lesson plan to show that maths is not just for passing exams. The children in their classes would measure the length of every child’s arms and deal with the numbers to arrive at the three averages: the mean, median and mode.
