Cast aside any visions of having to don your hard hat, concrete* doesn’t have to just be the preserve of your builder. It’s a cheap, easily available material (try any hardware or DIY shop), which can be used on a much smaller scale than patios and car parks – as demonstrated by these two projects for decorative letters and a planter. It’ll help if you can use some outdoor space to make them but, other than that, the main investment is drying time. If the grey finish is too sombre for your tastes, it can be easily perked up using some acrylic paint.
