Sebastian Pole is happy to be described as a bit of a hippy. “I’d be quite worried if I wasn’t considered one,” says the 47-year-old founder of herbal tea company, Pukka Herbs. “Hippies believe in personal empowerment, freedom of speech, the power of nature; I’ll take that, thank you very much,” he grins. It’s true that most hippies don’t have shiny corporate headquarters in Bristol, a PA and a staff of 100; but then most businessmen don’t have offices that smell of cinnamon and liquorice, hair that hangs over the collar of their plaid shirts, or a tan the colour of extra-strong builder’s tea, obtained through many hours spent outdoors.
