Born in Orkney, Amy Liptrot couldn’t wait to leave and even though she carried within herself ‘the curious seas, the limitless skies’ of her island, the city was where she longed to be, and where her drinking took hold. Newly sober, after rehab, she headed back to Orkney to figure things out. Her reconnection with nature worked a transformation, letting in ‘a wild, open joy’ that was as restorative as it was unexpected.
