Post your best efforts at facebook.com/ thesimplethingsmag HOW TO… MAKE ACORN COFFEE Not as nutty as you may think: acorns make a pleasant, naturally caffeine-free beverage • Collect your acorns, ideally from a tree, ensuring that they are already brown. • Put into a large pan of water and bring to the boil to leach out tannins. Leave for about 20 mins. • Once cooled, shell and peel the acorns, getting rid of any that are spoiled. • Leave the acorns for a day somewhere warm to dry out. • Chop them into small pieces (or pop them into a food processor if you have one). • Put them on a baking tray…
