There’s a photo on my laptop that always makes me smile. It’s my nana, proudly holding my newborn daughter Alice – there are 87 years between them and maybe it was thinking about the generations that got me delving into my family history. Satisfying though that is, it isn’t just about creating a family tree. What it really gave me is a new grown-up relationship with my nana.
