If you’re one of the many people who’ve tried talking therapy, chances are your sessions will have happened inside the same room, each week at the same time. In traditional psychoanalysis (the root of most modern talking therapy), the role of the ‘consulting room’ is key. The notion of seeing the same therapist at the same time in the same, enclosed space, is believed to create a sense of containment and security. But a growing number of psychotherapists and counsellors are swapping four walls for the elements by taking a wilderness-based outdoor approach.
