Using materials and canvases offered by nature, artist James Brunt creates beautiful artworks that are as fleeting as nature itself – gentle interventions in our landscapes that can be enjoyed in the moment, before the incoming tide or forest floor reclaims them.

You’re on a dog walk and spot a spiral of colourful maple leaves, seemingly emerging from the ground. Or perhaps you spy delicate twigs balanced between the branches of a tree. James Brunt is about such magical moments – making temporary artworks with natural materials to draw attention to the beauty of nature itself. James (pictured here with Akita cross, Foxy) went to art school, but only discovered his love of this kind of work some 25 years after graduating. He’s now spent about a decade working as artist full time. Rather than specialist kit, it’s about time, patience and tuning into the environment and seeing where that takes him. James hopes to only leave minimal trace on the landscape, using a code of conduct he’s developed over the years to…
