The first shirt I ever bought from a jumble sale was orange with white circles on it. ‘Prova’ is embroidered on the label. I think that was the home brand of British Home Stores. As far as I remember (fanfare, please), this is the first second-hand clothing item that I ever bought. That was a big step for me. I got into buying second-hand clothes because just one hundred yards away from the family home was a Methodist church, and they had jumble sales in their church hall from time to time, and my discovery of jumble sales pretty much coincided with my discovery of punk.
