When I was about eight, I shared a small herb garden with my sister. Keen to show our joint ownership of the little patch, we used the first initials of our names to form the bed and make a path. If I’m honest, the ‘C’-shaped bed looked like a wonky ‘O’, but Victoria’s ‘V’-shaped path worked really well, dividing the plot into three easy-to-manage sections. It also allowed us to create three different types of planting within the one bed.
