As the cover of Kit’s book proclaims, “There are carpets, and then there are Wetherspoon’s Carpets.” His intimate knowledge of these carpets began in The West Gate Inn, Canterbury, where Kit was reading The Way Inn by Will Wiles. In the novel, it’s discovered that hotel artwork combines to form one giant canvas. Kit glanced towards the floor. Back in his local, he clocked that the carpet was different. So his blog, wetherspoonscarpets.tumblr.com, was born. As Kit soon realised, each carpet in a JD Wetherspoon pub is completely distinct.
