GO & STAY As a child, devouring the Famous Five novels, I dreamed of exploring a private island, with ruined castles, hidden beaches and untrodden paths. Tresco, on the Isles of Scilly, is where those dreams came true. It’s a sweetly proportioned island in the Scilly archipelago, fringed by sparkling white beaches and a jewel-bright sea. The loveliest days are those that begin by drawing back the curtains to reveal the sea framed by the bedroom window. At Dial Rocks cottage, almost every window has a sea view. The cottage also has a number of window seats with soft cushions: the ideal place to curl up with a book for a lazy afternoon.
