We're in full season for hay fever, or allergic rhinitis, as it's technically called. While there's no cure, these steps (and talking to your pharmacist or doctor) may help a little. Have some foresight. Antihistamines are most effective if you begin taking them a few weeks ahead of peak. And, as much as you can, don't go out when the pollen count is high. Avoid hay while the sun shines. Plants give off pollen at different times, so gently experiment with what triggers your symptoms. Grass pollen is the most common allergy: highest in early mornings and evenings. Pollen levels peak in wind and just after storms. Flower power.
