IT'S OH SO QUIET by Björk. Shhhh, shhh… It's Oh So Quiet was initially recorded as a bit of a joke: a cover of a Betty Hutton song that used to be played on Björk's tour bus. But even Hollywood star Betty's big band special wasn't an original – it was first recorded in German in the late 1940s (‘Und jetzt ist es still'/‘And now it's quiet'), and then French (‘Tout est tranquille'/‘All is Quiet'). But it's safe to say Björk's 1995 version caused the musical equivalent of ‘another big riot'. Zing boom! The video aided its success, directed by Spike Jonze, a technicolour, fantastical nod to old Hollywood.
