Spring seems to be dragging its feet, the weather still cold, and the teenagers are ensconced in preparing for school exams. Perhaps what we – my husband, the dog and I – need is an escape from London, where we live. Not too far away, but somewhere with good food that's locally sourced, and a new gallery to discover, as I always find that inspiring. Meanwhile, the dog (Teddy, a lurcher) needs open spaces to stretch his long legs, and a hotel that happily caters for four-legged guests. The town of Bruton in Somerset, and the hotel Number One Bruton, ticks all the boxes.
