The freshly-picked daffodils in the vase on my kitchen table instantly transport me back to childhood visits to Granny. As I looked out the car window, hedgerows and verges bursting with daffodils flashed past like golden waves, signalling the arrival of spring and warmer weather, and promising adventures in her garden. In those fleeting moments, each vibrant trumpet of yellow became a stroke of nature’s paintbrush, transforming the passing scenery into a lively masterpiece. This brief connection to nature was an early lesson in the changing seasons for me, fostering a sense of appreciation for the transient beauty that the natural world offers, even during ordinary car journeys.
