This month grudgingly begins as winter and gratefully ends as spring. As much as I welcome and celebrate each season, winter has a way of overstaying like a tricky guest I am more than ready to say goodbye to. By early March, I am willing the garden back to life, impatiently lining up seed trays on windowsills and comparing hot cross bun recipes, ready to hop, skip and jump into Easter. My honesty box has been suffering from the gardener's mournful refrain of ‘the hungry gap’, where very little comes out of the veg patch and certainly not enough for me to share.
