MAKE A TEMPORARY COMPASS

If you're in the wilderness with a bottle of wine, a magnet and a sewing kit, you're in luck You will need: Magnet Cork Sewing needle or paper clip Bowl Water 1 Trim down your cork so that it's about 1cm thick. 2 Rub one end of your needle/ paper clip against the magnet. Make sure that you're always rubbing it in the same direction. The stronger the magnet, the less rubbing required, but you'll need to do it at least 20 times. 3 Work the needle through the cork, so that it's horizontal or stick on top with Blu Tack. 4 Fill your bowl with water/ another liquid. 5 Float the cork on top of the water.
