Getting away from it all and spending time in a simple hideaway has an enduring appeal – from writers’ retreats to alpine huts and Scottish bothies. In our connected, often cluttered lives, the idea of a simple cabin, nestled within the landscape, holds a distinct charm; a place for our restless minds to settle. The minimal nature of these spaces seems to somehow promise clarity, especially when life and deadlines became overwhelming. A modest, homely place to read a book, with no signal or distractions; a place to detangle my thoughts, to think clearly. Their bare-bones simplicity also evokes the idea of having ‘just enough', perhaps expressing a yearning for a simple, more ‘authentic’ life. And there's always that tantalising prospect: could I sell all my stuff and actually live here? Perhaps…
