How hard can it be… TO BECOME A BEEKEEPER?

On a dark and chilly evening last year, I found myself in the back room of a masonic lodge in Inverness with a dozen or so other wannabe beekeepers who were all hoping to follow their honey-dipped dreams. Magic unfolded in this unremarkable room, and we were transported to an extraordinary place where science, history, politics and dance collide: the beehive. I'd always wanted to try beekeeping – not least because I love a good hat – but until now, it had seemed like a pastime for other people.
