A day by water is a day well spent. Even if you don't live on the coast, your nearest estuary or river could be a good spot for a picnic and a paddle. If the water quality is good* consider taking a dip, followed by a picnic with friends on the shore or bank. A paddleboard or inflatable canoe is always fun, but if that feels like too much effort, you could just enjoy the sound of the water and watch the birdlife as the tide turns. On a river bank you might see kingfishers, herons and other water birds, not to mention frogs, dragonflies, fish and water voles.
