Therefore, the habits and behaviours that we adopt from an early age can be altered. Okay, so what's the science? It's about using the principles of neuroplasticity – the ability of the brain to change and adapt in response to internal and external factors. Until recently it was thought that the brain was incapable of change after a certain age, but neuroscientists have discovered that it can in fact change in adulthood, allowing us to learn new things, but also unlearn unwanted behaviours, habits and thought patterns.
