Taunton Independent Market The story so far: Michelle Beck launched Taunton Independent Market in 2020. It now takes place in Castle Square in the centre of Taunton, Somerset, on the second Sunday and last Saturday of each month. tauntonmarket.co.uk About 8,000 people attended the first market. I'd worked on it for over a year and people loved it. That was on 8 March 2020… then came lockdown. We went online and I became the chief deliverer of goods, sharing products and keeping our name out there. I'm proud of that. After lockdown, it took 18 months to reach the numbers of that first market again. It is a market but it's also an event. Something different to what's on offer locally.
