For some artists, inspiration comes from the likes of a carefully cultivated rare orchid. But for Angie Lewin, it's about what she spots growing around her, such as “a dandelion in the crack of a pavement. Or, in Venice, a fig growing out of a gutter.” She's on the side of the horticultural underdog – cheerleading for the overlooked in Britain's coast and countryside through her prints, paintings and designs. Take, for example, alexanders. According to the Norfolk Wildlife Trust website, they're 'very aggressive' and 'rather invasive'. To Angie, though, they're precious. A move from London to Norfolk tallied with a shift to focusing on her own art in earnest.
