“We used litres and litres of white paint,” says Elisabeth Borger about decorating her home in the village of Schoorl in the Netherlands. “We didn’t just paint the floors and walls white but the doors and the staircase, too.” Elisabeth’s aim – to bring as much light as possible into the house, an idea inspired by Scandinavian interiors – paid off. The home she shares with her partner René Douma and their daughter Merel is as bright and spacious as it is possible to be. The all-white interior is calm, restful and airy. The house is a tranquil place, somewhere to escape the clamour of the city.
