Good work is more important than a good career. That’s something I say on a social leadership programme I teach. The pursuit of a career has never held much interest for me. I can’t remember the last time I updated my CV or applied for a job. I try and do what feels right in my soul and that’s attempting to bring a bit of warmth, wisdom and delight to the world. I talked about the idea behind the Department Store for the Mind – how material objects can help us connect to ourselves and to others – for three or four years before I decided, last November, to let some of the other things fall away and enjoy doing one thing.
