My day in cups of tea

Ropes at the ready. We call into Helen Jacob's indoor climbing centre in Wales for a cuppa – and maybe some pizza, too

Morning, where are you waking up? I live in the village where I grew up. My house has a large garden with chickens and a veg patch. What's your first cuppa of the day? It's a large mug (or two) in bed with a book and the dogs, Bailey and Barney. Eighteen months ago, I was offered a partnership in the indoor climbing centre where my children had climbed for years – and jumped at the chance after 20 years of teaching geography. Mornings are now much slower and more relaxed. Wow! What's a typical day like? It varies. Daytime shifts are office based; evenings and weekends tend to be more people focused – serving in the café, chatting to customers and the Friday evening climbing socials, which include pizzas…
