Cycling is making tracks across Africa

If you saw the thrilling racing of Eritrean cyclist Biniam Girmay during last year's Tour de France, you might know that he was notable not just for winning three stages of the race, but that he was also the first Black person to win competition stages – and the only Black competitor. Cycling has an overwhelmingly white image, but initiatives such as the Ubuntu Cycling Foundation, are working across Rwanda, South Africa, Ghana and Sierra Leone to run workshops, and to support African women, in particular, to take part in cycle racing events.
