A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE One hundred photos give us fresh perspectives on the natural world More than 50,000 images are entered for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition every year. At the end of last year, a winner was chosen from 100 finalists: an image of a horseshoe crab, taken by French photographer Laurent Ballesta, in the protected waters of Pangatalan Island in the Philippines. But the competition isn’t over. On 7 February, another photographer will have a shot at winning the People’s Choice prize. The Natural History Museum and the competition’s judges shared a further 25 images and invited people to vote.
