A PLACE TO STAY A December break that also ticks a few things off the Christmas list? Yes, please. And no place better than an ancient Scottish estate where you can choose, fell and decorate a festive tree – as well as plant one for a future year. Lesser-known but historic Clackmannanshire is the kind of place people pass through on their way to the beaches of Fife or the mountains of the Highlands. Once you're there it feels remote, but it's surprisingly easy to get to, crossing the Kincardine bridge over the River Forth just east of Stirling.
