You know the drill. Christmas comes along, we’re exhausted, expectations are high and tolerance levels are low. And so what do we do? We gather with parents/siblings/nieces and nephews in a cramped space where’s there’s nowhere to catch your breath, never mind swing a cat. We attempt to cook, eat, chat and play convivially and swap presents when we don’t really know what they want (and hang on, didn’t we say we were going to buy more modest gifts this year?) Just as you likely switched between loving and hating your siblings several times a day as a child, old wounds can rise to the surface and suddenly you’re fighting the urge to pinch your sister under the table for commenting on your job/body/ parenting or to upend the Monopoly…
