I love the veg patch in December. It asks little of me, yet here come the sprouts, cabbges and kales that I love at this time of year. And it’s time to dig up roots. Those that sit half-submerged – beetroot, turnips, celeriac and swede – tend to fair well in all but the biggest freeze, but…
