It’s tempting to try and cram work, rest and play into the month of August. After all, this is high summer, holiday season and the best time for r&r. Expectation is sky high, yet satisfaction can be low. But what if we reframe our view and, instead of seeing this season as the climax of the year, we accept it as a welcome haven, a pause in the annual cycle? Unpredictable weather and a lack of routine are no barrier, as we can embrace this safe space almost anywhere – pottering for shells on the beach, losing yourself in a good book, cooking something nice just for you or packing a little bit of home when you go away.
