Who says outdoor cooking is restricted to the barbecue? Take your pizza and bread baking al fresco as well with a DIY clay oven. These ovens heat to a temperature of around 400C and, in fact, can be used to cook anything you’d put into a conventional oven, from a Monday evening pizza to (for the more courageous cook) a full-on Sunday roast. It’s not a particularly tricky or expensive project, but does require a bit of space, a fair amount of planning and a full three days.
