POP MUZIK BY M New York, London, Paris, Munich, though almost half a century old, everybody’s still talking about Pop Muzik. M – or Robin Scott – conceived the song after looking back over the previous 25 years of pop. With disco in its heyday, he felt that while at first “rock and roll had created a generation gap, disco was bringing people together on an enormous scale.” A folk musician in the 1960s, and a producer for punk bands in the 1970s, Scott knew a bit about the various incarnation of pop. The lyrics contain plenty of clues to be picked over, from references to dance crazes such as the jitterbug or the milkshake, to children’s rhymes, such as “Eenie, meenie, mienie, mo.” Spot some of music’s biggest stars…
