PROUDLY HOMEMADE MACRAMÉ BAG You’re just three types of knot away from your own handy bag. You will need: 32 x 2.5m of 3mm rope for the main bag (we used simple, natural rope, available from eBay, but you can also buy coloured cord by makers such as Hooked – available in John Lewis – or even jersey cord for a softer finish, just make sure it’s at least 3mm thick) 2 x 3m of 3mm rope, for straps Scissors Masking tape Fabric glue (optional) Knots you’ll use (see boxes for our how-to): Mastering the knots is the trickiest bit of macramé – get these skills in the bag, and you’ll be well away… Gathering (also known as a Wrap knot) Square knot Double knot 1 Divide your ropes into two sets of 16.
