The theatre of dressing up is such a joy. I’m often overdressed, even at my desk on a Monday morning. Sometimes, I want to be the type of person who arrives at a 10am meeting in a silk maxi dress. If I throw a denim jacket over the top, I can be. A denim jacket is a softener. Sleeves rolled up, elbows worn, occasionally with grass stains, rips or tears. It takes whatever you’re wearing down a notch or two. My natural urge is to go for fancy fabrics, bold colours and prints (sometimes all at the same time), I need to layer my drama with some comfort.
