Wilson insists: "I've spoken with Matt and have Bol known him for a long time, since he became my assistant with Cardiff. He is a quality, quality coach ... a very good technical coach.
"I don't know what Wales will look at in there recruitment for a permanent head coach whoever it is but simply must be given time.
"They have a lot of issues to work out to develop the future of Welsh rugby and get it back to a position it has been in the past. That's going to take time and it's going to need technical coaches in there.
"The player base is different to what it used to be but there are still some very good players there. It is a younger generation and it needs technical coaching right through the system.
