Seeing the younger generation of the Royal Family raising their children has always been something that fascinates the public. We love to see them together during royal engagements, and it’s even better when portraits are revealed of the family together. Releasing official portraits has been a tradition that harks back to Queen Victoria’s reign, there was a huge interest in The Queen, her husband Prince Albert and their nine children, so providing official imagery allowed the public to feel a sense of closeness to their monarch. As times have changed, the portraits have become less formal and more relaxed, in fact Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were the first royal couple to show off the engagement ring in their official engagement photographs.
