Here are four takeaways from the U-18 women’s worlds

1. TEAM USA WINS GOLD Canada was the heavy favorite entering the tournament but suffered an historic upset at the hands of Team Czechia in the semis. That sent Canada to the bronze-medal game, and the U.S. found a path to gold that, for once, didn’t go through the rival Canadians. Paced by returnees Maggie Scannell and Josie St. Martin, Team USA took the title after beating Czechia 5-1 in the final. 2. MARIE-PHILIP POULIN’S RECORDS FALL Caitlin Kraemer made history after breaking Marie-Philip Poulin’s Canadian U-18 goal-scoring record, which had stood since 2009. Poulin graduated from Canada’s U-18 national team with 13 goals in IIHF competition; Kraemer eclipsed that mark in the second game of the 2024 tournament and continued to add to her total, finishing with 20 career goals in U-18…
