Adam Gajan was the furthest thing from being considered an NHL prospect when the 2022 draft rolled around.
“There wasn’t a one-percent chance of me being drafted,” Gajan said. “Even if there were 100 goalies drafted, I probably wouldn’t have been one.”
After being hung out to dry that year on one of Slovakia’s worst U-20 teams, Gajan set his sights on playing NCAA hockey. To do that, he’d have to attract the interest of a U.S. junior team, and his Elite Prospects page alone wasn’t going to do that. Luckily, he had more than his stats to sell.
