LOVE FOR THE GAME of hockey defies borders, creeds or colors. For Casey Cook, a Montreal native who recently coached Thailand to its first gold medal in an IIHF World Championship, his own love affair with the game has time and again taken him across the globe and back. “I always say hockey is hockey,” said the 32-year-old. “I’ve coached in, I think, probably 15 countries. Women, men and kids. All ages. There are five skaters on each team. There’s a goalie in each net. There’s a puck, and the game is the game. The fundamentals and the basics are still there.
