IT WAS SUPPOSED TO be a battle between two iconic Swedish hockey clubs, the two teams with the most titles in Swedish hockey history. But it never turned into a battle. One year after being relegated to the second-tier Allsvenskan for the first time in club history, Brynas found their way back to the SHL by sweeping Djurgarden in a lopsided final series. After last year’s demotion, several of Brynas’ veterans decided to stay with the club. Among the returnees was captain Johan Larsson, who has close to 500 NHL games on his resume. The team also brought in defenseman Jordie Benn, a veteran of more than 600 NHL games, who proved to be a key cog on the back end. Up front, American right winger Tyler Kelleher was the big star.…
